CULTURE NEWS

  • Singer-songwriter Jonatha Brooke will perform live at Fogartyville on Sunday, Jan. 18 with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the show starting at 7 p.m. as she gears up for her next album and future live dates (tickets are $30 for members, $35 for non-members, and $15 for students).  The Bradenton Times
  • Local musician John Ford will perform his mix of pre-war blues, old-school country and southern gospel at Inner Compass Brewing Company. The venue offers an efficient full-service restaurant with kid menus and thirty taps of local beers.  The Bradenton Times
  • Stockton Bros. (Cam and Tony Stockton) deliver live FEEL GOOD music with no cover charge at Island Time Bar and Grill on Anna Maria Island’s Bridge Street. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A local wildlife rescue team freed a shark tangled in a crab trap line Monday, Jan. 12 near a popular fishing spot in Bradenton (officials said the animal is expected to recover soon).  ABC7

  • Road repairs on Manasota Key will resume today after turtle nesting season ends, officials said & crews are set to restore safe road conditions.  ABC7
  • Florida's Department of Transportation is set to launch an air taxi service by year's end + it will start testing at the nation's first vertiport along I-4 from Tampa to Sarasota.  ABC7
