- ➤ Manatee County Beach Patrol was named 2025 Beach Patrol of the Year by the Florida Beach Patrol Chiefs Association on Jan. 27. The award honored its lifesaving work on Coquina, Cortez and Manatee Public Beaches and in reuniting over 200 missing persons with their families. Manatee County
- ➤ At Tuesday's county meeting in Bradenton, commissioners defended the new hurricane-rated prefab kennels at the Bishop shelter after advocates urged a concrete block design and approved a free evaluation by the University of Florida Shelter Medicine Program (forming a task force), though a vote on trespassing charges failed. - ➤ Manatee County partnered with the State and FDACS to protect 1,483 acres of farmland by purchasing conservation easements at Mossy Island Ranch and Thundercloud Ranch.
