- ➤ Protesters gathered Saturday morning on Terra Ceia Island to oppose a proposed cruise terminal by a national operator, warning it may harm the nearby preserve. They collected thousands of signatures and urged Manatee County commissioners to review the plan. Bay News 9

- ➤ IMG Academy in Bradenton must pay over $1.7M in a settlement after accepting tuition from families tied to a Mexican cartel from 2018 to 2022 & the school said it fully cooperated with OFAC and is adding a new compliance program. ABC Action News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rainfall lowered fire danger slightly in Bradenton but burn bans remain because damage from frost and dry conditions keep risks high. Local officials say it will take months before restrictions can be lifted, and forecasters expect record highs later this week (cooler weather might return next week). ABC7
- ➤ A concerned citizen called police Monday near 8th Street West and Manatee Avenue when a bald eagle in distress was found and detained to keep it safe (aged between 4 and 5 years). Wildlife, Inc.
