- ➤ A sailor was rescued from rough seas off Venice on Feb. 24 after heavy waves left him struggling — local rescuers helped him return safely to shore. ABC7
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Powel Crosley Estate Foundation and Manatee County Government will host free self-guided and docent-supported tours of the historic estate on March 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can tour the mansion and grounds with no reservations or admission required. Manatee County
- ➤ Parker Barrow, a blues-infused Southern rock band led by Megan Kane (vocals) and Dylan Turner (drums) with guitarist Alex Bender, will perform live at Cottonmouth in Bradenton, which offers southern soul cuisine and local art on its patio. The Bradenton Times

- ➤ Residents in Anna Maria and Cortez will vote on March 10 for a tax to fund West Manatee Fire and Rescue District’s plan to open a second station on Anna Maria Island—an effort that will add five firefighters, address equipment shortages, and reduce response times. ABC7
