  • Congressman Buchanan spoke on Mar. 6 about a proposal by New College to take over the USF Campus — noting that university officials will soon review the plan’s details.  ABC7

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tests show red tide appears only in background levels along Florida’s northwest and east coasts with no fish kills and no concerns in Southwest. Satellite imagery tracks water conditions as the next update is scheduled for Friday, Mar. 13.  The Bradenton Times
  • Southwest Florida Water Management District urged year-round water conservation after its Feb. 28 report showed aquifer levels below normal in the north at 18th percentile and in the south, including Manatee & Sarasota counties, at 14th percentile amid lower-than-average rainfall.  ABC7
