CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Officials said they found 14-year-old Surianneylis Perez-Sanchez safe on April 11 after she was reported missing in March near the 1800 block of Martin Luther King Ave in Bradenton—14-year-old Marlen Daniela Cordona-Barahon was located safe on April 2. ABC Action News
- ➤ Deputies said skeletal remains found in a secluded area in eastern Manatee County may be those of 87-year-old Paul Sargent, who went missing with his dog on Dec. 10, 2024 — remains of a small dog were also found nearby — and DNA tests will confirm his identity. ABC Action News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Manatee County contractors are cleaning out canals in Parrish as storm season nears. They have completed nearly 600 of 745 maintenance orders from last year’s hurricanes and plan to ask for more funding at the board meeting soon. ABC7
- ➤ After tropical storm Debby brought flooding that many residents had never seen and hurricanes Helene and Milton worsened the damage, Manatee County crews cleared hundreds of work orders and are now working with contractors to clear clogged canals and waterways — county commissioners approved $2 million to speed the work before hurricane season begins.
