- ➤ Manatee County ended fluoridating water after its system broke in 2021 following a 5-1 vote by the county commission on Tuesday; Commissioner Amanda Ballard cited a study linking fluoride to lower IQ and high repair costs while critics worry about dental decay in some residents. ABC7
- ➤ Manatee County officials have set aside $5.6 million to help One Stop Housing build 156 affordable housing units at Forest Cove in Bradenton—this project is expected to eventually serve over 300 working families. The board also bought a 93-acre site for stormwater work and received $3.1 million in federal funds to repair Coquina Beach to how it was before Hurricane Idalia. The Bradenton Times
- ➤ At the April 9 meeting, the Bradenton City Council reviewed a proposal to install a temporary lift station—needed to shut down the old Lift Station 13 and kick off the Lift Station 3 Expansion Project estimated at $6 million.
