  • Manatee County officials and community leaders will gather at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7 at Washington Park to cut the ribbon on the park’s first phase — featuring a new playground, pavilions, restrooms, and a walking trail. Future trail expansion and a community center will further enhance this space.  The Bradenton Times
  • Tom Arnebeck, remembered for his warm humor and kindness, will be honored at a memorial service on Saturday, May 9 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center in Bradenton, with remote viewing available and a reception scheduled from 11:00-1:00 p.m.  The Bradenton Times

  • Manatee County school board races use a nonpartisan primary that can decide contests in August if a candidate wins 50% (over half) the votes. Voters are urged to attend candidate forums soon to learn about options in their district.  The Bradenton Times
  • The local Apprenticeship Works Summit (a gathering for career training) is held today in Bradenton, where educators and local employers explore new apprenticeship opportunities for residents. HEALTH NEWS

  • Thermos has recalled over 8 million food jars and bottles nationwide after federal officials warned that faulty stoppers can cause serious injuries (including cases of permanent vision loss), and Bradenton residents who own these items are urged to stop using them and contact Thermos for free replacements.  FOX 13 Tampa Bay
