  • A local business owner is volunteering to restore a vandalized cemetery in Manatee County — the project will start soon to help preserve a key piece of local history.  ABC7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sugar High, a Sarasota-based band, is set to perform at Clancy’s Irish Sports Pub off Cortez Rd in Bradenton, bringing a full-night dance experience at a venue known for its coastal vibe (including a Tiki-hut bar).  The Bradenton Times
  • Dead Set Florida will perform classic Grateful Dead tunes this Sunday evening at Encore Live plus the show will feature extended improvisation and a striking light display for music fans.  The Bradenton Times
  • J.P. Soars and The Red Hots will join Jason Ricci and The Bad Kind for a live blues performance at Flamingo Bay Brewing in Bradenton — Cottonmouth will provide food with the brewery's selection. Reservations are highly suggested at 1910 14th St W.  The Bradenton Times
  • Palmetto-based Westbound & Down will perform Southern Rock, Kickin' Country and Rock n Roll at GT Bray Park Amphitheater on Saturday, May 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. The free concerts run on Third Fridays from February to May.  The Bradenton Times
  • SKULL AND BONE BAND with Troy Youngblood & the Soulfish will perform their 20th anniversary show at Blueberry Patch today with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. Attendees can join Paint at The Patch and enjoy veggie burgers & smoothies from Peace Cafe at this BYOB event with a $15 suggested donation.  The Bradenton Times
  • House of Heavy Dance Party is set for tonight at Oscura in the Old Manatee neighborhood — the event features nu-metal nostalgia, alt-metal anthems and metal-core breakdowns for fans, with a $5 under-21 fee at the door.  The Bradenton Times
  • Motorworks Brewing, an award-winning venue since 2014, will host Electric Soul Therapy featuring a blend of R&B, funk, rock and blues - inviting locals to dance at its popular beer garden.  The Bradenton Times

  • The Twelfth Judicial Circuit Pet Therapy Program brings certified therapy dog teams into Early Childhood and dependency hearings in Bradenton to help calm children during stressful court days (teams must be certified, insured, and pass background checks). The program is seeking more volunteer teams.  ABC7
