  • The Boys + Girls Club celebrated its new Palmetto location at the Rubonia Community Center on Friday, marking 80 years of service with plans for full-day summer programs and year-round activities for children to learn and grow.  ABC7
  • Manatee County government, in partnership with Palmetto and Bradenton, is hosting a cleanup at Old Memphis Cemetery on Saturday, May 23 at 9 a.m. Volunteers will help remove debris and beautify the historic site, which was vandalized recently and includes veterans’ graves at 25th St. W & Second Ave. W.  The Bradenton Times
  • Karena Ballard, the Marauders’ coordinator of fan and community engagement, received the Bright Beginnings Award at the Manatee Young Professionals Gala on April 16 at The Elia Event Venue in Palmetto — an accolade honoring her work at over 150 local events supporting the Marauders and Pirates.  The Bradenton Times
  • Crews restored the historic Adams and Rogers cemeteries in Bradenton by chopping trees carefully (to protect the graves), installing new trash cans and adding a gate as requested by community members; Commissioner Tal Siddique led the effort, which uncovered a 1960s grave and will be maintained each year.  ABC7
