Good morning, Bradenton.

Bradenton started as a small riverside town that grew when 59 residents voted for incorporation on May 19, 1903—marking its start as a hub for citrus and steamship trade.

The city will celebrate its 122nd birthday tomorrow while recalling a name change from Braidentown caused by a clerical error and a later merge with Manatee.

A local fire station hosted an open house event —a program that aimed to clarify public service careers— and provided residents with a close look at the daily work of firefighters.

FITE for Your Write, a Manatee County program, offers classes to help people with Parkinson’s regain strength for writing.

An Intro to Micrographia event will be held May 28 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Westminster Communities in Bradenton.
