- ➤ Derrell Scott, 54, was sentenced to 17 years in prison after he shot a man and wounded a woman at the Loaded Barrel Tavern in Bradenton last year — he pleaded no contest to two counts of second-degree attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and he will be on probation for 10 years. - ➤ The Florida Maritime Museum and Cortez Village Historical Society will host a free family event called Summer Social on Saturday, June 14 from 10 am to 12:30 pm on the Cortez Cultural Center grounds.
