- ➤ Meals on Wheels Plus is fighting hunger by giving away over 135k free meals to families in Manatee County over the summer. Families can pick up food bags at four sites including a Bradenton location every Friday until August 1. ABC7
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bradenton Police are asking for help to find a suspect who stole an e-bike from a Publix on State Road 64 on June 1 — the suspect is described as about 6 feet 1 inch tall and 205 pounds and the bike is gray with an orange and black phone holder and black saddle bags. ABC7
- ➤ Manatee County Sheriff's Office is asking for help in finding 19-year-old Carlos Morales (who has mental limitations) as he was last seen on June 5 in the 21100 block of 61st Avenue East in Bradenton wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, brown boots and carrying a green backpack. ABC7

- ➤ Bradenton's Manatee Players announced its upcoming 2025/26 season on June 6 with main stage shows including Prince of Egypt starting Aug 21, Hello, Dolly! beginning Oct 23, and Frozen opening Dec 4, and the studio season will feature Gutenberg! ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Volunteers from Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch reported that sea turtle nesting is increasing and the island is close to breaking last year's record — 61 nests were seen this week, including the first green turtle nest of the season. Some turtles have chosen nesting spots farther inland — a shift that may protect nests from heavy surf but can challenge hatchlings reaching the water. ABC7

- ➤ An investigation by Suncoast Searchlight showed that many homeowners in special districts paid more each year in fees for roads, sewers, and clubhouses than in taxes for city services — hidden costs that add up over many years.
