  • The Gulf Islands Ferry announced it will expand its summer service to five days a week starting June 18 — adding Wednesday runs to ease traffic ahead of the busy season. The ferry will travel between downtown Bradenton and Anna Maria Island with departures scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. weather permitting.  FOX 13 Tampa Bay

CRIME NEWS

  • A Bradenton woman, Natasha Killebrew, 38, was arrested Monday night at 2019 9th Street West and charged with arson and a probation violation after she allegedly set her boyfriend’s Nissan Altima on fire near an apartment—she first claimed she only tossed a lit cigarette near the car before later saying she doused it with cooking oil and ignited it.  WFLA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Manatee County School Board members will select a consulting firm Tuesday—one that will set the timeline for the superintendent search. They plan to have a new leader in place by the start of school on Aug 11 and will look for a candidate with strong experience in Florida education law.  Bay News 9
  • The Manatee County school board began its search for a new superintendent on Tuesday and set a final day for former superintendent Dr. Jason Wysong, who was terminated without cause last month. The board outlined a strict timeline—from starting advertisements on June 25 to holding public interviews on August 21—and planned to finalize the new contract by September 9.  WFLA
