Good morning, Bradenton.

Communities across Tampa Bay will honor Juneteenth with events celebrating heritage—such as a youth pageant on Friday in Citrus County and a cultural discussion in Hernando today.

Later gatherings in Hillsborough, Manatee, and Sarasota offer family fun and live performances to mark the occasion.

Hillsborough County student Ishanvi Sabniveesu of Steinbrenner High School invented the AI-powered CareCane for visually impaired users, and she earned second place at the Invention Convention U.S. Nationals yesterday—she is now developing new features including voice commands and working toward FDA clearance.

Local wildlife officials rescued a baby hawk in Holmes Beach on Monday as experts quickly responded to help the young bird, which is now at a rehabilitation center for recovery.

A new 52-acre sports complex is planned for the area; city officials said planning is underway and more details will be shared as the project develops.

The facility will offer space for community athletic events and recreation.
