- ➤ A crash closed the northbound lanes of U.S. 41 in Palmetto near the junction with U.S. 301 at 10th Street, causing a backup of 2.5 miles and nearly twenty minute delays for afternoon drivers. ABC7

- ➤ Bradenton police are searching for a suspect who stole an e-bike from a shopper at the Family Dollar store on June 16 at around 8 p.m.—surveillance video shows the suspect arriving on a bike and making a purchase before taking the e-bike, and Detective Tobie asks anyone with information to come forward. - ➤ After Chief Melanie Bevan announced her summer retirement after 39 years of service, the Bradenton Police Department will swear in its 14th chief, Josh Cramer, on July 8th at 9 a.m. at the R.B. Chips Shore Historical Courtroom—Mayor Gene Brown nominated him and the City Council confirmed his appointment in May, and he brings 30 years of law enforcement experience. The Bradenton Times
- ➤ A judge ruled against former Manatee High School Football Coach Joe Kinnan in a nearly decade-long lawsuit against the school board, former superintendent Rick Mills, and former investigator Troy Pumphrey after a 2013 suspension revealed issues with a baseball coach’s certification and booster club payments. The ruling ends Kinnan’s claims of defamation and other grievances — closing a long chapter for the school district. The Bradenton Times
