Good morning, Bradenton.

Today, Bradenton received $8.3 million in state funds to upgrade stormwater and wastewater systems — including relocating Lift Station 8, sewer lining, and drainage improvements — and officials said the projects will reduce flooding and improve water quality.

Last week, Manatee County commissioners unanimously rejected developer Pat Neal’s request to rezone 217 acres at Pope Ranch in Parrish—citing flood risks and the loss of wetlands vital for storm protection—and Neal said he will fight the decision amid growing community concerns.

The ruling marks a rare setback for one of Florida’s most influential developers.

Applicants who are 18 or older can choose either the DETS or TLSAE course along with the written exam to obtain a learner license.
