- ➤ A large boat fire broke out at 1:30 p.m. yesterday at Twin Dolphin Marina on 1st Ave. W as black, billowing smoke rose from the vessel — Bradenton Police and fire rescue battled the flames and closed part of the riverwalk. WFLA
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On July 7 at 10:16 p.m., Bradenton police said that 52-year-old Milton May, charged with DUI manslaughter and DUI causing serious bodily injury, drove his truck into a motorcycle at the intersection of 59th St W and 42nd Ave, killing a passenger and leaving the rider critically injured—police are asking any witnesses to come forward. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Manatee County is asking for public input to redesign the Cortez Boat Ramp north of Cortez Bridge after 2024 hurricane damage—commissioners said the effort will boost boat trailer parking and includes open house meetings starting July 24 through August 18. ABC7
- ➤ Manatee County will request funds from HUD for the 23094 Ninth Street Apartments rental development project by Bright Community Trust, which will build 134 affordable units at 5420 10th Lane East after July 30th—county officials determined the project has no significant environmental impact. Residents may submit written comments on the Environmental Review Record until July 30th—these reviews are available at county offices and local libraries. Manatee County

- ➤ The Florida Department of Health reported that four people died from Vibrio vulnificus infections in 2025, with 11 cases confirmed in Manatee and Hillsborough Counties.
