CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bradenton Police have received a grant from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to buy new card skimming detection devices that officers will use on ATMs, gas pumps, and other payment systems — they expect the devices to help detect and deter credit and debit card fraud. Bay News 9
- ➤ Bradenton police reported a yacht caught fire at Twin Dolphin Marina after a stolen flare gun was fired from a nearby bridge, with city cameras showing three juveniles—ages 11, 12, and 14—being arrested while the 14-year-old faces a felony arson charge and the others face firearm offenses. WFLA

- ➤ The Manatee River Artists Guild is hosting its 20th Annual Art & Craft Show/Sale on Saturday, November 8 from 10AM-3PM at the Waterlefe River Club in Bradenton (entry through the main gate off Upper Manatee River Road). Visitors will enjoy free admission and refreshments while viewing art made by about 25 local artists and students from Freedom Elementary and Haile Middle Schools, with a raffle and silent auction benefiting visual arts programs. - ➤ Manatee County Schools announced Tuesday they partnered with the Taggart Family Foundation to launch a free before- and after-school program at Lincoln Memorial Middle School—filling a gap left by frozen federal funds. - ➤ Manatee County is inviting residents to give input on proposed Cortez Marina plans near the Cortez Bridge that could increase boat trailer parking by up to 25%—officials will use feedback to guide design work.
