- ➤ The Bradenton Police Department arrested suspected drug trafficker Olvin Gutierrez Ponce during a search warrant at his home and seized three guns, one reportedly stolen, as part of a drug trafficking investigation that has removed 34 firearms from the streets this year & 87 since mid-2024. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bradenton’s 1887 church at Manatee Village Historical Park was added to Florida’s 11 to Save list by the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation to raise awareness of needed repairs. The church, which served the first Christian congregation south of Tampa and was built from 1887 to 1889, needs a new roof and stabilization — a key goal for Friends of Manatee Village. ABC7

- ➤ Manatee County Government is accepting applications for the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee to help advise on affordable housing policies for working families, seniors and essential workers. The committee will fill three seats (one for a nonprofit provider, one for a planning agency member, and one for essential services personnel) with meetings on select Mondays (3–5 p.m.) at 1112 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton and applications close on August 1. - ➤ Manatee County Government is now accepting applications for the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee—a citizen-led board that will advise on policies to support working families, seniors and essential workers. Three seats with terms through December 31 are open and interested residents must apply by August 1; meetings will be held on select Mondays from 3 to 5 p.m. at the county administration building in Bradenton.
