Piña Colada Fest 2026 is set to take over the Palmetto Marriott Resort and Spa on Saturday, Jul.
25 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering live Caribbean music, rum tastings, and a festive pool party atmosphere for all ages (21+ for alcohol) with tickets on sale now.
🌲 Environment
Tropical Storm Bertha disturbed 189 sea turtle nests on Anna Maria Island, washing out 64 completely + six partially over four days as strong winds pushed tides higher.
Local conservation groups will keep monitoring the nests to help preserve future sea turtle nesting.
🏛️ Government
Bradenton launches its Military Banner Recognition Program to honor veterans, active duty members, National Guard and Reservists with banners along Manatee Avenue West.
Inspired by Heather Christie in memory of her nephew (Army Specialist Nicholas), the program is administered by Manatee County Veterans Services on a first come basis.
🏥 Health
Florida health officials from the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed four cyclosporiasis cases, including two in Sarasota and two in Manatee counties from Jan.
1 to July 18, and officials did not identify a common source.
