- ➤ On June 20, a Holmes Beach woman said that during a fishing trip 33 miles offshore her husband—Douglas Naeher, age 60—beat her, dragged her behind their boat by untethering a rope she held, and tried to leave her to drown, leaving her with a concussion and bruises while he now faces charges for attempted first-degree murder and domestic battery. - ➤ Bradenton Beach police said a phone scammer used the department’s caller ID to pose as an officer who told victims they missed a court date and must pay a cash bond—officers received five reports on July 23 and warned residents to hang up and call the non-emergency line if contacted. ABC7
- ➤ On July 20, a Holmes Beach man was charged with attempted first-degree murder after he beat his wife on a boat 33 miles offshore during a fishing trip — she said he left her struggling in the water before returning to beat her again — and he is now held without bond. FOX 13 Tampa Bay
