- ➤ More than 200 Siamese and Siamese-mixed cats were rescued from a Manatee County home after a resident said his stray feeding led to an uncontrolled cat population; county officials sent the cats to local rescue groups and treated one cat for an eye issue (all others were in good health) while urging the community to help by fostering, adopting, or donating. - ➤ Palmetto police reported an SUV crashed into a building early Friday along 8th Ave. West—its impact saw the vehicle break through a wall and patio and land on a support column, causing significant damage. FOX 13 Tampa Bay

- ➤ Bradenton Police Department said Officer Zachary Butterfield, 40, died by suicide on Thursday afternoon and the department is offering counseling and support to its members—his loss has deeply affected his family and colleagues. WFLA

- ➤ At the Manatee County School Board meeting on July 22, 2025, chair Choate led discussions on the superintendent search, school grading changes, and the impact of federal funding cuts.
