ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Northbound traffic on I-75 was slowed by a crash between Sumter Blvd and River Rd—resulting in over a 40-minute delay and a five-mile backup as crews worked to clear the accident.  ABC7

CRIME NEWS

  • Police stated that 19-year-old Caitlyn Sandt, last heard from in late October 2024 and reported missing in November, has distinguishing marks—brown hair, blue eyes, a scar between her eyes, a strawberry birthmark, and thigh scars—and a Bradenton family is offering a $5,000 reward for any tip.  WFLA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Carl Reynolds Law joined the Day of Giving event and gave a check to Suncoast schools after a back-to-school supply drive raised $36,702 split evenly between Sarasota and Manatee schools—The donation will help local classrooms get needed supplies.  ABC7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hosts Cheri Coryea, Misty Servia, and Reggie Bellamy broke down Manatee County’s 2025 budget in an episode of The Big Picture Manatee posted August 22 — the proposed plan features a $1.4 billion operating budget, a 5-year $2.4 billion capital plan, and millage rate cuts that could lead to $15 million in service reductions.  The Bradenton Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Matt Ager, 21, of the Bradenton Marauders said he is still adjusting to Florida’s summer humidity as he pitches 68 innings this season. He credited the team’s staff—coaches and trainers—for helping him transition from college ball to pro baseball and plans to complete his economics degree after the season ends.  The Bradenton Times
