CRIME NEWS

  • Bradenton Police are investigating a homicide after officers found a gunshot victim near a home on the 400 block of 11th Ave East on Monday, Aug. 25 at 11:30 p.m.—the victim later died at the hospital.  ABC Action News
  • A School District of Manatee County driver’s ed teacher was charged with tampering with evidence after a fatal DUI crash occurred in Bradenton on July 7—police say he removed alcohol from the scene just after the collision, while the truck driver, with a .097 blood alcohol level, faces DUI charges for causing serious injury and death.  WFLA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Tuesday's meeting, the Manatee County School Board picked Dr. Laurie Breslin as the new superintendent for Manatee Schools. The board had narrowed its search to two candidates after firing Dr. Jason Wysong in late May and began contract talks to make her appointment official.  The Bradenton Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tennis player Martin Damm Jr. from Bradenton has qualified for his first Grand Slam main draw in singles at the 2025 U.S. Open—he secured the spot after beating Travaglia, Hassan, and Shimizu.  The Bradenton Times
