- ➤ MCSO said 33-year-old Roger Villasana was arrested on Sept. 3 for second-degree murder after video evidence, phone data, and license plate records tied him to a violent attack that fatally injured his 34-year-old girlfriend at the 2000 block of 30th Avenue East in Bradenton. ABC Action News

- ➤ The League of Women Voters of Manatee County Government Committee observed the Commission meeting on September 2 and noted discussions on awards, proclamations, trash and recycling services changes and a proposal to join a pending lawsuit on Senate Bill 180 — public comments focused on waste service concerns. The Bradenton Times
- ➤ Manatee County Commissioners joined 10 other local governments in a lawsuit challenging SB 180—a state law that limits local governments from regulating developments—to protect home rule.
