COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Rotary Club will hold its second annual charity golf tournament in Bradenton to raise funds for local projects—official details on the schedule and course have yet to be announced. The event is set to bring community members together for a day of friendly competition and fundraising.  ABC7

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Local officials on Anna Maria Island designated Bean Point as a no swim zone after a series of drowning incidents left visitors at risk — they installed signs from Fern Street to North Shore access and are working with the county and sheriff’s office to find a permanent solution.  Bay News 9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Manatee County Commission and the City of Holmes Beach Commission met on September 3 to discuss storm recovery, water ferry expansion, and beach patrol funding along with other issues. City and county leaders praised the collaboration — they plan to use the meeting’s outcomes to guide future local projects.  The Bradenton Times
  • On September 3, Manatee County Commissioners heard staff presentations on two key projects—one is the Trailsways Master Plan for a 140-mile network facing a $1 million veto by Gov. DeSantis and the other is the Veterans Resource Hub and Memorial Park at 5431 Buckeye Road in Palmetto, which has received $4 million for design work. County staff detailed planning progress and future funding needs while local citizens commented on the potential impact for transportation and veteran services.  The Bradenton Times
