  • Suncoast communities held morning ceremonies on September 11 to remember the victims of 9/11—local leaders and residents attended reflective events to honor those lost.  ABC7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Visible Men Academy moved its students into a new building last week and plans to increase its enrollment from 40 to 60 students. A fundraiser called *Love Lunch* will be held on October 24 at 11:30 a.m. at Michael’s On East to support the school's growth.  Bay News 9

FINANCE NEWS

  • Residents with damage from last year's hurricanes must finish filing their home and car insurance claims soon—reminders come as the one-year marks for hurricanes Helene and Milton occur on Sept. 26 and Oct. 9.  ABC7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Manatee County’s Manatee Moves Veterans program provided over 1,119 free rides to veterans as of Thursday, showing strong community support since its launch in January — the service offers door-to-door rides for medical and Veterans Services appointments. Veterans can book rides via an app or phone, and they must show required papers like their DD-214 for verification — county officials say this helps remove transportation barriers.  The Bradenton Times
  • I-275 was delayed nearly 30 minutes on September 11 due to roadwork—causing longer travel times for local drivers.  ABC7
  • Manatee Sheriff Rick Wells held a news conference on September 11th—addressing department operations and law enforcement measures while stating that additional details from the department are expected soon.  ABC7
