- ➤ Local fans of acoustic and folk music can attend the Sunshine Concert on Saturday, September 27 at 7:00 pm at Manatee Universal Unitarian Fellowship—this event follows a day of music instruction at the 1st Annual Sunshine Music Camp and asks for a $10 donation with refreshments available. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The groundwater pollution from Piney Point phosphate continues to spread—Florida began deep-well injection for pollutant wastewater in 2021 and is reviewing permits for two new injection wells in Polk County. The state department is accepting public comments until September 16th. The Bradenton Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Manatee County officials reported yesterday that the free ride program for veterans reached a major milestone—delivering free transportation to hundreds so far. Leaders said the program will continue to support veterans in the future. ABC7
- ➤ Sheriffs in Pinellas and nearby counties say that open carry remains unlawful today—despite a Florida appeals court ruling part of the state law unconstitutional—and warn residents to follow restrictions at government buildings, schools and private businesses. State officials and lawmakers plan to review the decision and issue new guidance by September 25. WFLA
