About 2,000 people gathered in a Bradenton park to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated days ago in Utah at a Turning Point event, while local leader Jay Collins urged supporters to continue his mission without violence—honoring his legacy.

On Sept. 8, a filter overflow at the City of Bradenton sewage treatment facility spilled 1.7 million gallons of sewage into the Manatee River—operators shut down aerators and opened bypass valves to control the flow with normal conditions restored by 4:25 a.m. as the facility undergoes mandated upgrades.

Bradenton’s City Council said that construction on the 2nd Avenue East Streetscape will soon start with drainage and traffic improvements between 24th Street East and 21st Street East.

The project will be built in phases—adding sidewalks, trees, lighting, and bike lanes—to make the downtown corridor safer and easier for everyone.

Dylan Walker, a senior and captain of the Out of Door Academy Thunder football team, is named this week’s ABC7 Athlete as his team started the season 3-1.
