- ➤ GT Bray Park will host the Annual Goblin Gathering for kids and families on October 17 from 4 to 8 p.m.—the event will feature inflatables, a petting zoo, treats distributed by local sponsors and costume contests with prizes. Manatee County

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Sept. 8, a filter overflow at the City of Bradenton sewage treatment facility spilled 1.7 million gallons of sewage into the Manatee River—operators shut down aerators and opened bypass valves to control the flow with normal conditions restored by 4:25 a.m. as the facility undergoes mandated upgrades. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bradenton’s City Council said that construction on the 2nd Avenue East Streetscape will soon start with drainage and traffic improvements between 24th Street East and 21st Street East. The project will be built in phases—adding sidewalks, trees, lighting, and bike lanes—to make the downtown corridor safer and easier for everyone. The Bradenton Times
