Good morning, Bradenton. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 19th of September.
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On September 8th, an operator at a Bradenton wastewater plant found solids overflowing, which led to 1.7 million gallons of partially treated wastewater bypassing into the Manatee River + local environmentalists and boat captains voiced concerns about the water quality. Bradenton Mayor Gene Brown said the city is working on reclamation plant improvements and invited ABC7 to see progress today. ABC7
- ➤ Horseback riding tours along Palma Sola Bay are on hold from September 8 to October 6 to allow further water tests after trace horse DNA and bacteria spikes were found, which may point to water pollution and issues like bird waste and rotting seaweed. Vendors worry the pause could hurt local staff, while officials say tests will continue until clear answers come—rides will resume on October 6. WFLA
