- ➤ It has been one year since Hurricanes Helene and Milton flooded homes, and many Rubonia residents still face visible damage while waiting for repair funds—some say fixing their homes will cost another $100000. County officials will launch recovery programs in January to offer repair help for low- and moderate-income households. FOX 13 Tampa Bay
- ➤ The Mosaic Company has donated $350,000 to refurbish the kitchen at Under One Roof Gateway South, a new women’s shelter & recovery center in Bradenton. The renovation, one of the largest private gifts, will provide daily meals and support recovery services as officials prepare for a ribbon cutting on October 1 at 10:30 a.m. Manatee County

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Manatee County announced that Phase Two of its 9-1-1 integrated drone delivery system will launch Monday, September 29, expanding service to 35 square miles and operating daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., with drones delivering AEDs and NARCAN in under three minutes + a partnership with ArcherFRS and Tampa General. - ➤ Manatee County is accepting applications for three seats on its Historic Preservation Board (a citizen advisory committee that reviews historic certificates) with members serving four-year terms appointed by county commissioners. Applications must be submitted online by October 15 from qualified county electors not employed by the county or serving on other land development boards. Manatee County
- ➤ City officials on Anna Maria Island have removed the damaged walkway of the City Pier after hurricanes and are finalizing a contract to rebuild a stronger, classic structure—using the specs of the T-end to improve safety for future storms. They said the work will finish in late fall next year with part of the funding coming from state and federal sources. WFLA

- ➤ Dr. Scott Howe of Premier Weight Loss in Bradenton said weight loss drugs Wegovy and Zepbound—also known as semaglutide and tirzepatide—help people lose weight with studies showing up to 32% versus 28% loss and warned that buying them online may be unsafe due to a lack of proper oversight. He added that some insurers still cover the treatments while others are pulling back similar to Botox coverage. ABC7
