- ➤ On October 7, 2025, the League of Women Voters observed the Manatee County Commission meeting where issues such as a public process for naming a road in honor of Charlie Kirk and concerns over property deals—were discussed; the meeting also noted that the Southwest Florida Honor Flight will welcome 85 veterans at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport on October 14. - ➤ Hurricane Milton struck near Siesta Key at 8 p.m. on October 9, 2024, causing severe damage and major debris challenges while county officials reported 14 restoration projects will start early next year — efforts continue to aid long-term recovery. ABC7

- ➤ Cedar Cove, a new affordable housing development for families emerging from homelessness, broke ground Wednesday at 600 Orlando Ave in Bradenton with 80 apartment homes and on-site support services provided by nonprofit CASL. - ➤ The Palmetto motorsport track changed its name to T4 KartPlex in April 2024 with new management partnering with Tillotson Racing LTD — the facility welcomes both amateur racers and families while keeping a long racing legacy alive amid growing urban pressure.
