  • Manatee County will host Mixon In Bloom on November 7 at 10 a.m. at 2525 27th Street East in Bradenton to mark its purchase of the former Mixon Fruit Farms property and begin its community revitalization.   • More than a year after Hurricane Milton damaged the First United Methodist Church in Palmetto, the donation left by Anne Marshall—who served the church for over 40 years—is funding thousands in repairs to rebuild the sanctuary.  ABC Action News
  • Turning Points and community partners will host the 27th Annual Manatee County Stand Down event on November 1 from 8:00 AM to Noon at the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto — the event offers services like medical, dental, vision, mental health screenings, career assistance, and a free shuttle from Downtown Bradenton.  The Bradenton Times

  • The Chabad of Bradenton & Lakewood Ranch will host Sizzlin 'n' the Sukkah on Sunday as part of Sukkot, a week-long Jewish harvest festival celebrating G-d's protection during the Exodus.   • Manatee County Schools announced on October 8 that Sara Scott Harllee Center and Lincoln Middle School may host the Miami-based charter operator Mater Academy for the 2027–2028 school year, with shared resources — food services, transportation, and custodial support — planned to support district operations.  ABC7
  • The League of Women Voters observed the October 7 school board meeting where Chair Choate started at 10:00 a.m. and officials reviewed Hispanic Heritage Month activities, audit reports, and a review of substitute teacher contracts amid public comments on safety and fiscal decisions. The board approved 31 consent items and set plans to adjust policies and contract terms - focusing on transparency and appropriate use of resources.  The Bradenton Times
