- ➤ More than 250 families waited over two hours for food at Parrish United Methodist Church on Saturday as the government shutdown brought fears of a SNAP lapse — the church, working with Publix, One More Child and a local food bank, distributed meat, vegetables, canned goods, juice and bread. - ➤ Manatee County is working with local groups to host the Nourish Our Neighbors Food Drive to collect nonperishable food and household items for families facing food insecurity. Donations will be accepted starting Nov. 3 at library branches, the County Administration Building in Bradenton — and the GT Bray Recreation Center. The Bradenton Times
