  • Outdoor Lighting Perspectives will hold the A Night Before Christmas event at GT Bray Park on December 13, where from 4 to 8 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will offer free professional photos as families enjoy a snow slide, foam zone, inflatables, face painting, letters to Santa and a petting zoo while vendors provide food, dessert and a shop local marketplace with a suggested donation of a new unwrapped toy to support Toys for Tots.  Manatee County

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hot Club of SRQ will play at Post Kitchen & Bar with Keven Aland singing and playing the violin, Jon McLaughlin on guitar, and Glenn Stevenson on bass—this group plays many types of string jazz, including Gypsy Jazz and Rumba Flamenco, with no cover. They have honed their style for over ten years and are set to offer a mix of lively swing and smooth ballads at the restaurant that serves Modern American dishes.  The Bradenton Times
  • Mumbo Jumbo is set to perform at Peggy’s Rockin’ Corral featuring lead guitarist Barry Hynes—who has shared stages with noted New England acts—with drummer Paul Fish and bassist Scott Mosher supporting the band.   • Singer-songwriter Bobby James—originally from Berea, Ky and now based in Nashville—is set to perform at Waterside Plaza, where the venue hosts live music, yoga, and community markets.   • Oscura Presents Emo Night at OSCURA in Old Manatee is set for tonight with host Matt from Suburban Wasteland and special guests offering surprise acoustic performances—attendees 21 and over can pay what they wish while under-21 tickets cost $10 and under-18 guests must come with a guardian.  The Bradenton Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kim Sheffield, a federal programs and grants specialist for the Manatee County school district, won a silver and three bronze medals in dragon boat racing for Team USA (in Germany) after training for less than a year. She began the sport to stay fit for her grandkids (with strong support from teammates and coworkers) and quickly became a top competitor.  ABC7
  • IMG Academy hosted its first 941 Media Day event on November 2 for local high school boys basketball teams—team representatives gathered to boost media exposure for upcoming competitions.  ABC7
