  • Paradise Café in Holmes Beach is serving free meals to families who show their SNAP card and ID as benefits remain reduced from the government shutdown.   • Manatee County will host a family bike safety event this Saturday morning at Lakewood Ranch Library that features an on-road bike ride with sheriff’s deputies and a traffic garden that mimics real streets.   • North Port and Manatee County placed burn bans in effect on Wednesday due to dry conditions—an unusually early step according to North Port Fire Rescue deputy chief Scott Lane.
