Good morning, Bradenton.

On November 1, the federal shutdown paused SNAP and WIC supports that many neighbors depend on — a pause that has forced local food banks to ration supplies as 31% of households struggle with rising food costs.

The programs will resume when the government reopens, but the incident highlights a need for a more reliable local safety net.

On November 13th, 2025, Selan Freedom provided support services to sex trafficking survivors—offering counseling and safe housing while partnering with local agencies to expand its programs.

Bat City Comic Professionals will host their Second Annual Chili Con Comics Chili Cook-Off and Family Fun Day on November 15 from 12 PM to 4 PM at Bat City Comic Professionals (915 Manatee Ave E).

The free event will feature chili tasting, carnival-style games, crafts and a Fan Favorite Award vote that supports programs teaching reading and writing skills to kids and teens.

Mitch and Dawn discussed a book on how social media is changing childhood growth — they also reviewed the Manatee County Commission's denial of a dubious development plan and the Dems caving on the shutdown — in a podcast released on November 12th.

The Bradenton Area Convention Center finished a $54 million renovation that created 95,000 square feet of conference space — including a grand ballroom, breakout rooms, meeting areas, and two 16,000 square foot outdoor plazas attached to a 252-room Marriott.

The upgrade is expected to boost local tourism and support local businesses as part of a broader redevelopment effort.

The first egg of the season was spotted in the nest of famous Florida eagles M15 and F23 on Wednesday after last season's tragic loss of their eaglets.

The egg is expected to hatch in about 35 days—offering a fresh start in their third season together.

Tax experts advise Bradenton residents to complete seven key tax moves by December 31 to lower their tax bills and plan for the future.
