Good morning, Bradenton. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 2nd of December.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local donors doubled the impact of Giving Tuesday donations by matching funds for All Faiths Food Bank and Meals on Wheels Plus—helping them buy fresh produce, meat, and shelf-stable items for families, including those still recovering from 2024 hurricanes. The matching gifts allowed the organizations to meet the food needs of the community.  ABC7
  • The Food Bank of Manatee reported a 40-50% rise in food need—its highest in seven years—as it prepares for Giving Tuesday with a $100K matching gift that will double every donation, serving over 95 food pantries in the county. Rising costs and storm recovery have put many families in a tougher spot as demand for food assistance grows.  ABC7

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire at Coral Club Apartments on Friday at 1:29 p.m. left at least 30 residents displaced and 12 households needing help, and although firefighters controlled the blaze within 30 minutes, a dog & a Bermuda dragon were found dead amid over one million dollars in property damage.  ABC7
