From Sept. 29 to Dec.
19, Manatee County 911 telecommunicators helped five callers deliver babies, including a 3 a.m. call on Dec. 3 that resulted in a healthy girl. Some responders were still in training and their efforts brought joy to the team (a rare bright moment in emergency work).
Manatee County Government announced on Dec.
22 that Under One Roof Gateway South Shelter is welcoming its first clients at 407 57th Ave. E. in Bradenton. The center offers safe accommodations and recovery services for women facing addiction, homelessness and trauma — funded by opioid settlement dollars and the HOME-ARP program.
